Formula E 2016/17 Calendar Confirmed

The FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) has finally confirmed the revised calendar for the third season of the FIA Formula E Championship.

The world’s first entirely electric city street racing series will take place over 10 months and include 12 races in 10 cities. Here are the official dates and locations:

Round One

Hong Kong

09 October 2016

The first race of the season will get underway at Hong Kong’s Central Harbourfront circuit. The 2km, 10-turn circuit races along existing roads and features two tight hairpin turns certain to challenge the drivers.

Round Two

Marrakesh

12 November 2016

Circuit details TBA.

Round Three

Buenos Aires

18 February 2017

Round three will take place on the famous 2.4km Puerto Madero street circuit in Buenos Aires – a favourite amongst drivers and the only circuit to feature in all three seasons.

Round Four

Mexico City

01 April 1017

The illustrious Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez will play host to round four – a venue steeped in history. The new layout was created especially for Formula E in 2016 and the circuit has an elevation of 7,500ft, making it one of the highest in the world.

Round Five

Monaco

13 May 2017

The Circuit of Monaco will be making its second appearance on the Formula E calendar. Measuring in at 1.76km, the ePrix course is a shorter version of the iconic Monaco Grand Prix circuit and features 12 turns. An exciting course in a fantastic location.

Round Six

Paris

20 May 2017

Round Six will take place around the historic Les Invalides complex in Paris. With two long straights and plenty of opportunities for overtaking on the 1.93km course, this race is bound to make for exhilarating viewing.

Round Seven

Berlin

10 June 2017

Taking drivers along 2km of twists, turns and stunning sights, the Berlin ePrix will take place on the winding roads of the Berlin Street Circuit. The pit lane will be located on the monumental Kark-Marx-Allee.

Round Eight

Brussels

01 Jul 2017

Round Nine

New York

15 July 2017

The New York double-header will take place in Brooklyn, within throwing distance of the Statue of Liberty. The track is just short of 2km and the layout features 13 turns and wind its way around Red Hook in Brooklyn.

Round Ten

New York

16 July 2017

The New York City ePrix double-header will be the first open-wheel race to take part within the five boroughs of New York City. Speaking of the circuit, Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E, said: “To race in New York City is a historic moment – not only for Formula E, but for motorsport in general – and again highlights the philosophy of Formula E to bring fully-electric racing to the world’s greatest cities.”

Round Eleven

Montreal

29 July 2017

Just a stone’s throw from the purpose-built Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the 2.8km Formula E track will feature a chicane maximise overtaking opportunities and several 90-degree corners. The exact route around Montreal is yet to be confirmed.

Round Twelve

Montreal

30 July 2017

Which driver will race to victory in the final race of the third season? Will it be as controversial as the last race of the 2015/16 calendar which saw rivals Buemi and di Grassi collide on the very first lap? We can’t wait to watch the season unfold!
