It’s official: We’ve Wrapped the Coolest Car in Britain
Just in case you missed it, we had a bit of good news earlier this month – we won a competition to find the Coolest Car in Britain!
The ‘Cool Cars’ competition was launched back in September by 3M Wraps UK in partnership with Spandex, trade suppliers to the sign making and display industries.
The aim of the competition was to showcase the amazing innovation and creativity of UK wrappers.
Creative wrapping from 3SixtyWraps
We entered a couple of cars into the race for the top spot (after all, we’ve worked on quite a few cool cars over the past few years and it was hard to choose our favourite), but the car that claimed the (very cool) title of the Coolest Car was the Tequila Patron ESM Rolling Stone car.
Obviously, we’re all pretty chuffed with the result, so we thought we’d show you some behind the scenes pictures of the winning wrap and our team in action. Check out the project with these step-by-step shots. Enjoy!
About the car
The winning car (and its award-winning wrap) raced at 2015’s 24 Hours of Le Mans for Extreme Speed Motorsports (ESM). The ‘Rolling Stone’ custom livery was created especially for the endurance racing event to replace the Tequila Patron branding from ESM’s existing sponsor, Patrón Spirits International.
“In France you are not allowed to advertise alcohol in motorsports so ESM had to change the livery for the one race at Le Mans,” explained Nick Kenway, owner of 3SixtyWraps. “They supplied us with the 2D artwork and we adapted it and made it work on the 3D car.”
Our team all pulled together to install the Rolling Stone livery, which was actually installed on both of ESM’s Honda entries. Nick and the team were in Hong Kong working on the first race of Formula E Season three when they got the call to say they had won the competition.
Nick was really pleased with the result. “It was one of the best liveries – in fact one of the best wrapped cars – I think I’ve worked on in the last few years,” he said. “I was so pleased it won the competition.”
Winner takes it all
The prize package our team won includes £2,000 of 3M Wrap products, tools and training. One thing’s for sure – our team will put every piece of kit to good use this year!
