It’s a Wrap for the Second Season of Formula E
The second season of the FIA Formula E Championship came to an end on the 3rd of July, with Sebastian Buemi, driving for Renault e.dams, claiming the title after finishing just two points ahead of Lucas di Grassi.
Of course, the world’s first fully electric racing series wouldn’t be the same without some high quality stickers and wraps, which we were more than happy to provide. But what’s it like being part of the world’s first fully electric racing series? We sat down with Nick Kenway, owner of 3SixtyWraps, to find out what goes on behind the scenes during a typical racing season in Formula E.
“We’ve worked quite closely with a number of teams since the start,” Nick explains. “We provide wrapping services to the cars and test cars. We provide all of the championship series sponsors, so we take care of all of the mandatory stickers and logos which go on the cars.”
For Nick and his team, it’s non-stop during the racing season. “We went to pretty much half the calendar this year,” he says. “We started out in China, we then went on to Uruguay, Mexico, Buenos Aires, California, and then finished off in London.”
On race days, Nick works flat out with his team get the cars ready. “There are generally two-three of us on the track,” he explains, “but it all depends really what needs to be done prior to the race. If there’s a lot of rebranding or graphics to do, it might be me or a couple of us that go out there. It varies really, but we’re always kept very busy.”
“The biggest challenges are always time constraints and working to extremely tight deadlines. There are a lot of crashes and accidents and bumps and knocks. So after every session when the cars go out there’s a lot of damage you’ve got to repair and re-wrap in quite a short time scale to get the cars ready for the next session.”

Nick’s wrapping services are in high demand. This year, he provided wraps for DS Virgin Racing, Venturi, Andretti, Dragon Racing, and this year’s winning team, Renault e.dams.
Nick certainly has his work cut out for him before the next season kicks off again in October. “Working on Formula E is really good fun and we’re kept busy,” says Nick. “We’re already getting ready for the third season. At the end of the season everything gets ripped off and rewrapped in the new season three designs. That is what we will be working on absolutely manically throughout August.”
The first round of the 2016-17 Formula E season will take place in Hong Kong on October 8th 2016.
