Another year, another Gumball 3000 rally. Earlier this month, 150 cars gathered together for the annual week-long festival of cars, music and mayhem. We’ve been regulars at the event for the last few years, and we weren’t about to miss this year’s event.
Here’s a look behind the scenes at our Gumball 3000 experience. Enjoy.
The team loaded up a trusty van packed full of graphics and stickers ready for the 1500 mile journey to Riga, Latvia. It was a long journey but totally worth it.
The atmosphere was already heating up when we got arrived. Gumball 3000 is always a big draw. Thousands of spectators descend on the route from all over the world, including many famous faces. Of course, it just wouldn’t be Gumball without an appearance from The Hoff, would it? And we can confirm that, yes, David Hasselhoff was indeed in attendance.
This year (as with every year of this epic rally) we had our work cut out. With 150 cars to work on and 5400 individual graphics to apply, the race was on for the 3SixtyWraps team to get the graphics applied in time for the official rally launch. This only gave us 2.5 days from start to finish. Could we get everything done in time?
Yes, after a couple of very long days (and nights!) the final sticker was applied and we had done it – 150 cars rally-ready and picture-perfect for their appearance on the world stage. Each year hundreds of thousands of people tune in to watch the drivers. We weren’t about to let a single vehicle slip through looking anything less than perfect. From rally cars to support vehicles, almost every car in the fleet received the full 5-star 3SixtyWraps treatment.
We may work long hours, but we do get the chance to let our hair down and join in on the fun. The team’s reward at the end of our marathon stint was to be able to head to the starting grid to witness the start of this year’s rally. And what a line up it was – as you can see from the picture above.
To find out more about the participants in this year’s rally, head to the official Gumball 3000 website. Want to take part in this legendary rally yourself? To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Gumball 3000, organisers have announced a VERY exciting route for 2018 – entrants next year will travel from London to Tokyo in what is set to be Gumball’s biggest adventure yet. Hopefully we’ll see you there!
